lyrics by Kathryn Merriam. I watched on as another laid these hands above my eyes I told another story inside I long to be alone There's things I'll never know but the door is slowly opening to a world I had never seen Every leaf is a miracle of creation Every seed grows into the perfect plant Will you dance with your whole body without giving a damn? Forgetting everything they said about how to be, or who to be, Remember the child who knows how to breathe Breathe I can watch these thoughts like an actor reads his lines and decide what to keep learning how to sink deeper every time This isn't mine, this body that I see This is the time to live how we believe life can be What keeps you from living free?

ALWAYS MAKE THE MISTAKE (Graydon James) capo III intro: G(d) Gsus4 G(b) verse: G C G x2 Em C G C G C G chorus: C Em D G C Em D D7 there's a river i see from my room that calls a young man to his doom & if he hangs his head he's gone too soon oh youth does not make you immune the past is not burdened with proof like the films i recall from my youth & a young man dressed in his father's suit i can make a lie from the hardest truth [chorus] & i always make the mistake oh i always make the mistake you were drawn to the clouds in his eyes lord knows what you saw in mine a promise we could compromise oh love is a foolish prize we could claim a great many things you were the song that i needed to sing the truth was you always wore his ring & we were only borrowing [chorus] there's a river i see from my room & i will walk through the pale afternoon & the birds still sing, i recall the tune perhaps i will see you soon... perhaps i will see you soon.

about

The idea for this E.P. came less than two weeks before it was released, fully complete, on Remembrance Day 2016. A theme of memory, conflict, war, contemplation, and/or resolution was suggested, and the call was put out; these five artists-- yes, the photographer too!-- stepped up to the creative challenge. We recorded or remixed the music within a week, and assembled this package--
an exclusive compilation of four Canadian musical acts and a visual artist, bundled together in honour and celebration of the lives of people in conflict resolution and recovery.

40% (gross ttl) of any income from Where Our Hearts Used To Be will be donated to Veterans Emergency Transition Services, or VETS Canada, specifically aimed towards their Guitars For Vets program. The remaining 50% will support the artists on this compilation, with the final 10% allocated back into Almonde Records for continued forward movement.

Let's envision a better world for everyone-- for a song!
